Starting a Family Tradition | Create a Write-on Tablecloth

Hi Friends,

This is one of those projects that you will say to yourself “Why did I not think about this before?”

I love traditions and want to create some good ones for my boys. In a lot of families, Thanksgiving is when you bring out the “good” tablecloth and set the table in preparation to share a big meal. Have you ever had a meal at dining-room table and became preoccupied on not making a mess? After those kind of meals, the host quickly removes the tablecloth, saturates it in stain remover and then toss it in the wash. That doesn’t sound like a lot of fun does it? Why don’t we change that?

Wouldn’t it be great to capture handwriting, funny sayings, dates and even documenting wine spills on a write-on tablecloth? Yes, I think so too. I found a white tablecloth at a thrift store for $2.99. After washing it, I gathered up sharpies and markers and allowed the creativity to begin.

It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving or Christmas to breakout the write-on tablecloth. Bring it out on Birthday’s, 1st days of school, or when entertaining new friend. If someone leaves a greasy fingerprint on the tablecloth, so what? Circle it and make a note about what happened.

To protect your table put a plastic tablecloth underneath the write-on tablecloth. It would be a bummer if someone’s cute signature bled onto your dining-room table.

This could be something that you could pass on to your kids…..that they actually might want.

XOXO Carmody
