Let’s talk real life household problems. I live in a 1950’s style ranch. You know the style, where the living area is on one side of the house, and then there is a long hallway that leads to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The master has a very small, but nice master bathroom. My boys use the bathroom off the long hallway. This also happens to be the guest bathroom. Anytime anyone visits, I run to the boy’s bathroom clean up, wipe down, sanitize and organize. I bet a lot of you can relate. I enlisted the help of Sue Jason of My-bathrooms blog to assist me in coming up with solutions to have a bathroom that suits the needs of my little guys and is guest friendly. Sue came up with 8 tips to help me with this dilemma. I am betting that these tips will probably help a lot of you.

Friendly Kids Bathroom Decor
to the childrens use, not least because it frees up the other bathroom for
adult use only! However, a problem arises whenever guests come to stay, as the
clutter and mess that the children adore and thrive on must be cleared away
ready to create a favorable impression to your visitors! Avoid this potential
turmoil at the already stressful time (having guests to stay is always hard work,
even if the guests are much-loved and more than welcome!) by creating a
bathroom that is ALWAYS ready for guests and still allows children creative
play and splashing time!
Spacious storage options are going to be your best friend in
any dual purpose room. Create a clear delineation between guest products and
childrens products and keep them well supplied with bubble-bath, shampoo and
conditioner, hand soap and bars of sweetly scented soaps.
Choose child friendly products for the children and allow
them to have some say in the choice of the products after all, they will be
using them.
The guest products will be your choice and as good quality
as you can afford, in order to create a great impression and a wonderful
experience for your guests. While there are no guests in the home, you can give
the brightly colored, cheerful and child-friendly products pride of place,
easily switching out the storage containers or cubbies when guests are
imminent.
Bath toys are great fun for children, and can be a useful learning
tool too! Train the children to dry off their toys and pack them away after
every use. In this way, not only will you always have a relatively neat and
tidy bathroom (making it much easier to transform from kids bathroom to
guest bathroom) but your children will be able to share the bathroom with the
guests without either party feeling put upon and awkward.
Once it is established that the children will need to share
the bathroom with any guests, a mutually satisfactory agreement must be reached
with the children and you each having equal input as to the color scheme and
décor theme. Tone down the childrens more extravagant gestures and make sure
that the bathroom is both youthfully cheerful and elegantly welcoming.
Guests are not terribly fussy when it comes to décor, so do
not feel that you have to please everyone you will only end up stressing
yourself out, while your guests will only look for amenities and facilities in
the bathroom!
If you want to fill the bathroom with colorful and cheerful
pictures why not put up some vinyl stickers or decals. Designed for bathrooms,
these stickers are waterproof and durable and can transform a rather drab and
joyless bathroom into a bright and welcoming place.
Do not fret too much about not being able to achieve either
the perfect childrens bathroom or an ideal guest bathroom. Guests will be
happy and comfortable as long as the bathroom is well-stocked and clean, with
plenty of bathroom products while the children will be happy with plenty of
bubbles to splash around in, with some friendly toys!

These are such lovely solutions! I’m expecting a lot of guests for theses holidays and organizing the bathrooms at home is essential for me. I have problems with bathroom storage all the time (even when we don’t have guests), and your post gave me some good ideas in this.
