Hi Friends!
I have officially moved to Charleston, South Carolina. It has been a whirlwind of emotions, tears, joy, stomach viruses, tears again and hard work. Finally we are in.
We are in…but, are living like people with small children who just moved….crazy. Stuff is everywhere, we do not have a washer and dryer yet and have been sharing 2 threadbare towels. Oh yeah, on night one the stomach virus of 2015 hit our new home. We are nowhere near to being unpacked or settled. One day these “before” images will make the “after” images look so much better.
Enough about my glamorous life, let me tell you about our new home. It is a newer Charleston Single style home. This is much different from our 1950’s ranch we have been accustom in living. The Charleston Single house style became popular to accommodate narrow lots which were laid out in early Charleston. The layout is similar in all Charleston Single style homes. It is 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. The front door opens to a piazzas ( private side porch). The actual front door for the house is located half way along the piazza.
I am really excited about this little porch.
This is the room that faces the street. It was used as a formal dining room by the previous owners. We are going to turn it into a casual living space for the kids. Yes, we will remove the dangling chandelier.
This the back living area. There is an open kitchen that looks over to the fireplace. We are still trying to determine our furniture configuration.
We set up the beds in the boy’s room last night. We are going to attempt to share a room here so that we have a guest bedroom.
Our bedroom and guest room is currently housing boxes, so I will share them once they become livable. But…. this is the view from the master bedroom porch. Pretty nice.
I hope you enjoyed my real ( not pinteresty) home tour.
XOXO Carmody
Oh my goodness, your new house is ADORABLE! I’ve never heard of this type of home, but I can already tell I’m a big fan. I can’t wait to see what you do to it
Thank you so much Erica! I am so excited to make it home.
How many bedrooms is it?
It is 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths
For got to mention that bedroom is great with the tent. Looks like the rooms are big.
Love it Carmody! Congratulations! Have fun making it home. Can’t wait to see more!
This is a great looking house, I love the color on the outside. I think there is a lot of potential. You know, once the dangling light gets handled
love the houses of charleston I lived there for a year the piazza’s are my favourite if I could find this style in tacoma wa where I hope to live eventually I would be a happy camper. Make sure after all the unpacking you hit the market on the weekend so cool. My favourite restaurants are poogins porch and the marina restaurant these are great places to eat at I recommend them to everyone have a great day honey and remember to take a break
That’s a cute tent in the boys’ room. It would be a nice area to relax and read.
I love that porch and the front door! As much as I hate moving, I do like the arranging part in the new house. Where did you get your boys bunk beds? Those are so cool.
Thank you Leia!!! The bunk beds are from Ikea. Super cheap.
