Hi Friends, It’s Mother’s Day this weekend…like you did not know. I know that there are some of you out there that still haven’t decided what to give that special lady in your life. No Worries… I have an easy, inexpensive and lovely Mother’s Day project that could be perfect for you.
Last Minute Mother’s Day Necklace
I picked up some wood veneer letters at a craft store.
I separated the letters M. O. M. The words “Mum” and “Mama”, would have been cute too.
With crazy strong jewelery adhesive, I attached the letters together. I also attached two metal jump rings to the top of each “M”. Once the adhesive was dry, I sanded the excess glue off the wood letters with a nail file.
I picked out Krylon Gloss Ocean Blue to spray-paint and applied the paint to the wood letters. I really love this color blue.
MOM Necklace…Dipped
Ok, I couldn’t resist to add some gold to this necklace. I am like a bug attracted to a street light when it comes to shiny metallic colors.
I used regular gold craft paint and painted the bottom of the letters gold. I applied the paint with a paint brush. Then, I applied a spray glaze to “MOM”. This will help to protect the necklace from the elements, like milk, goo, wine and all that is involved with braving the motherhood storm. I added jump rings to the ones already attached to the necklace. I also attached silver chains to both sides of the necklace with closure clasps.
Pretty dang cute if I do say so myself. This last minute gift might me a gift for myself.

This is a great idea, it’s nice for the kiddies because they could make this and even buy the materials themselves as opposed to a gold or silver necklace which would break their little piggy banks! Oh yeah metallics are awesome!
Thanks Heather! When it comes to gold, I don’t care about the material…just the shine.
