Hi Friends!
So, I am going to admit that this project came out of a little frustration and a little selfishness. Last week, I was stoked on starting a new project. I was going to finally tackle painting my stone fireplace with the help on my visiting step mom, Renee. Renee is an interior decorator with an abundance of energy, so I knew that we would knock this project out in no time. Well, as I am gathering my materials together, I discover that I cannot locate one paint brush. Really!
I live in a creative household. My husband is also an artist and also working on various projects of his own. With two creatives plus two little boys, supplies and artistic tools seem to go missing. It is frustrating, especially when you actually have an interior decorator at your home, ready to work….for free. So, I hopped in my car and headed to Home Depot to treat myself to some new paintbrushes.
Now, here is the selfish part…. I am claiming these paintbrushes. If I were a dog, I would have lifted my leg to mark my territory. However, I am a southern lady, so I did what a southern lady does….passive aggressively paint them hot pink.
Marking your Territory { Dipped Paint Brushes}
With masking tape I created a clean line of where I wanted the hot pink paint to begin. I covered the bristles and metal with rags. With my pink spray-paint I marked my territory, by painting the handles of the paintbrushes.
I used Rust-Oleum’s Painter’s Touch in Berry Pink Gloss
My paint brushes are pretty, clean and unquestionably mine. I know, I know, I sound like a toddler who yells “Mine” when grabbing a toy. For a maker and an artist, these are my toys and I now have marked my territory. Plus they are pretty and easy to locate with their pink handles.
Speaking of Marking Your Territory
These Dipped Paintbrushes will be my first linkup to On Display Thursday, a linky party that I am hosting with Bre of Average But Inspired and Leia of Eat It & Say Yum. Why don’t you Mark Your Territory and Link up with us.

Cute idea, usually I’m the one misplacing craft supplies in my house but this would definitely encourage me to keep better track of them (: The link up looks like a lot of fun, no DIYs this week but I’ll be sure to catch the next one! I look forward to seeing the projects linked in!
Such an AWESOME idea!!!! Wish I could do this with brushes, kindle, iphone, etc hahaha.
Carmody, you crack me up. That being said, I LOVE this idea. I am totally copying you and doing this on my brushes!! Hands off, husband! - Bre
Great ideas! Sometimes we simply must mark our territory! Your household of creative sounds quite interesting! Great project there all the time, I’m sure!
These are to die for! And they’re pink!
hahaha! I love it. I so need to do this so my paint brushes will stop disappearing. The hubs has a nasty habit of not wanting to clean them so they disappear. Love this! Thanks for linking up with us at The Makers! I’m on my way to join in at your party!
Congrats, I just featured this wonderful idea at Link it or Lump it! Be sure to stop by and grab a feature button.
