Hello Friends!
This is going to be a great week. To start it off I have guest post on two fabulous blogs today. Check out my how I turned a broken necklace into inspiration to create a pretty painted pot over at Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s body. I am a big fan of Tasha and love her projects. It is always a pleasure working with her.
Oh, yeah and remember my book page wreath from awhile back, the entire tutorial is being featured at Crafty & Young Sisters today. Brittany and Hannah are two crafty sisters that must have creativity in their DNA because they come up with amazing projects.
Now for Today’s Project…
As you know, I love a great upcycle. I also strongly believe that you do not need an abundance of dollars to create pretty, stylish and unique things. So, I invited a couple of bloggers and makers to join me in The Great Upcycle Challenge. Each participant has to transform a previously owned item that they acquired at thrift store or even one that they found on the side of the road. They could do anything that they wanted to the item as long as the entire project does not exceed $15.00. There is no winner or loser, but the goal would be for each participant to create something that they love and will use.
Now to what I created for my challenge:
I as running in my neighborhood on trash pick up day. I came across this table on the side of the road.
This table has seen better days. One leg was broken off, but lucky for me it was lying beside the table. I scooped up the table and awkwardly jogged home with it.
Once home, I inspected the missing leg. It has been glued and re-attached many times during its life. Some of the glue was completely rotten.
I used a drill to clean out all the old glue. I purchases new wood pegs and used gorilla glue to reattached the leg.
Yeah, I have it standing on its own. I chose a light grey spray paint to coat the table. In the above image I have applied one light coat.
I applied three light coats of spray paint and allowed the paint to dry completely after each coat.
Big improvement huh? As of now we have the table in the dining room. We are still trying to figure out what to put on it’s two tiers.
Finding the table on the side of the road was definitely the key to this project. I came in $ 3.76 under budget.
Check back Wednesday to see what Griffin of The Design Itch created for her Upcycle Challenge.
I hope you are enjoying The Upcycle Challenge.
