Latitude and Longitude DIY Doormat

Hello Friends!

You all know that I live in Charlotte, North Carolina and I love it. I have come across a few projects online that plays tribute to the latitude and longitude of a city. I decided to play with this idea and create a little project that plays tribute to Charlotte. Also, don’t forget to enter to win a $310 Target gift card below.

Latitude and Longitude DIY Doormat

I picked up a natural fiber doormat from Home Depot. Besides being pretty, I think the Natural Fiber mats hold up better. I obtained the latitude and longitude for Charlotte from Travel Math site.

With stencils that I already had from another project, I began to layout my design. I ended up using the stencils more of a guideline. With a paintbrush and brown acrylic paint, I painted in my design on the natural fiber mat. The stencils had the letters and numbers segmented and I that it looked better if each letter was fully connected.

So, here is the doormat with the latitude and longitude painted on it. It looks nice and gets the point across, but it needed some “pop”.

With a red/coral acrylic paint mixture I painted a border around the edges of the mat.

Pretty cute huh? This little mat would make a great housewarming gift…you’re welcome for that idea. It was easy to create. I just kept double checking to make sure I had the latitude and longitude correct.

Whoo hoo! I am really pleased with how it looks on my front porch. It will also help me remember what city I reside in every time I enter the home. I hope that this is a project that you enjoyed.

I’m not to big a fan of where I live now (Wilmington NC) but whenever I reach a place that I do love, this would definitely be something I’d make! Too cute :) Pinned!

You could make one for Wrightsville Beach, it’s close enough and I bet no one will call you out on it.
